I have to give props to my hubby for this one! I have been working on building my relationships with other local businesses and trying to get my name out in the Denver area for a while now. Well, Jimmy found a group called the Douglas County Divas while searching online one night. He informed me that this would be a great way to meet other professionals and exchange information. This group has just recently started meeting in January I believe and I had heard that February’s meeting there had been around 200 women.
I have to say, I was a bit hesitant. I’m not really the “go get em’” kind of girl. I could picture myself sitting alone in the corner of the room watching all the other business women exchange cards while having great conversation. I decided I needed to take a friend with me….you know, my wingwoman so to speak.
The meetings are free and are held at fabulous local restaurants. This month’s meeting was at one of the new restaurant’s in The Vistas at Park Meadows, called, La Sandia. All us crazy business women took over the top floor of this place and had a blast chatting it up and snacking on some fabulous appetizers.
My neighbor and friend, Julia, and I went out full force to pass out business cards and just mingle and have fun! I was able to meet some really fantastic women in my area and talk with them about their businesses and what it was that they were passionate about. It was a great way to discuss possible joint promotional ideas and figure out ways to just help each other out.
I’m guessing there were close to 150+ women there that night and I only got to talk with about 30. So, needless to say, I’ll be going back to the April event in a few weeks. If you are a business woman in the Douglas County area and are looking for ways to meet and collaborate with other fantastic women, you should definitely come to the next event!
I’ll leave you with this fabulous picture of me taken by my camera phone while rockin’ my tiara (given to me by another great business called, Tiara Training) at this month’s event.
