Meet Melissa!

Let's see......you want to know about me, huh?

I'm pretty simple.  I've been in love with the same man since I was 16 years old.  He is my best friend and we believe in each other....always have....always will.  We have 3 of the most beautiful children you'll ever lay eyes on!  I'm most comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt (baseball undershirts are my fave!) although I do love getting dressed up for a night out on the town.  Sushi Den, anyone?  I'm a southern girl through and through.  I love crawfish!  Give me a huge slice of chocolate cake with fudge icing and a cold coke and I'm in heaven!  I'm a Daddy's girl.  I love the outdoors and I am more than willing to take part in anything remotely competitive.  I hate to lose even more than I hate clutter.  I am a lover of practical jokes and was taught by the best.  This is why, to this day, I don't answer my Mother's phone calls on April Fool's Day.  I cherish my friends and family.  They are the ones that have made me who I am.  I love the Lord with all my heart.  He is my strength and my joy.  He has blessed me in every way!  Oh, yeah......and did I mention I LOVE photography!  It is my PASSION!

In my bag:  Nikon D700, 85mm f 1.4 and 50mm f 1.8

Project 52 {2/52} Inspired by a song

How cute is he?  Andy man was super helpful to me this week for my newest challenge.
My week 2 image from my project 52 challenge had to be inspired by a song.  I chose “Splish Splash” by Bobby Darin.

A challenge.  Everyone needs one, right?
I’ve finally decided to try out this Project 52 thing.  I’m taking it on with MCP Actions since they will be giving me the theme for each week.  Here’s hoping I can keep up with this challenge.  Wish me luck!

Post Christmas goodness

We had a great Christmas this year!  My family came into town and we had a great time playing games, talking, going to the movies and just enjoying each other’s company.  The kids woke up to tons of goodies under the tree.  Our oldest got a guitar and has been spending a lot of her...

FOR SALE: 85mm f/1.8 lens

I’m happy to say, I just recently upgraded my favorite lens.  I shoot about 95% of my stuff with my 85mm f /1.8 lens, but now I’ve upgraded to the f/1.4.  I’m no longer in need of my f/1.8, so if anyone is interested it is for sale!  I’m asking $375 for it.  It is...

Before & Afters

For those of you that have asked.  Here are some before (straight out of the camera) shots, compared with the after shots of my work.  Some are more extreme than others, but it gives you an idea of what I can work with and how much I edit my images.

June Sunset

Have you ever looked out the window in the evening between giving the kids a bath and washing the dinner dishes, and seen a gorgeous, fiery sunset?  Well, this happened to me last night.
Since I have recently promised myself I would take more pictures for “me”, I just had to grab my camera and head...

Just for you, Dad

When we went home to LA a few weeks ago, I took some pictures of my kids playing around on my parent’s “farm”.  The kids always have a blast running around and getting filthy.  They spend their time collecting eggs from the chicken coop, riding around on 4-wheelers, hunting for 4 leaf clovers, playing on the deck,...
