Meet Melissa!

Let's see......you want to know about me, huh?

I'm pretty simple.  I've been in love with the same man since I was 16 years old.  He is my best friend and we believe in each other....always have....always will.  We have 3 of the most beautiful children you'll ever lay eyes on!  I'm most comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt (baseball undershirts are my fave!) although I do love getting dressed up for a night out on the town.  Sushi Den, anyone?  I'm a southern girl through and through.  I love crawfish!  Give me a huge slice of chocolate cake with fudge icing and a cold coke and I'm in heaven!  I'm a Daddy's girl.  I love the outdoors and I am more than willing to take part in anything remotely competitive.  I hate to lose even more than I hate clutter.  I am a lover of practical jokes and was taught by the best.  This is why, to this day, I don't answer my Mother's phone calls on April Fool's Day.  I cherish my friends and family.  They are the ones that have made me who I am.  I love the Lord with all my heart.  He is my strength and my joy.  He has blessed me in every way!  Oh, yeah......and did I mention I LOVE photography!  It is my PASSION!

In my bag:  Nikon D700, 85mm f 1.4 and 50mm f 1.8

High School Senior Session Information

Senior Year!  Wow!  What a fun time for your child.  Booking a Senior Portrait session can be so important, and one that you want to be memorable and fun.   I love taking Senior portraits.  It is so much fun spending time with them and seeing the excitement of their future in their eyes!  Generally, Seniors already have a look or style that they want to acheive in their Senior portraits.  I enjoy talking with them and deciding together what may be the perfect location and look for each one of them.  I want them to be proud of their images and be excited about sharing them all with their friends and family!

Details:

A Senior session with me is $200. The session fee is for my time and talent as the photographer and is due upon booking and is a non-refundable fee, should you choose to cancel.  This fee ensures your session date is reserved on my calendar.  Shoots generally last 90-120 minutes and will allow for 3 outfit changes.  You can receive a copy of my portrait agreement via email or it can be download here.  You will be asked to read over this, sign it and return it to me on or before your session.

Where and When?:

I do on-location shoots.  I like to talk with my clients personally during our pre-session consultation to come up with a “perfect fit” location.  This may be in your own home, a park, an urban location, etc.  I am always scouting out new locations for my clients because I don’t like to shoot in the same location more than once.  I like to shoot in the early morning (few hours after sunrise) or early evening (few hours before sunset) to ensure great light and great images!  These time will vary based on the time of year your session is booked.

What to wear?:

Clothing can be hard to figure out for some clients, but is a very important aspect of your session.  During our pre-session consultation we can discuss many options for your Senior.  Don’t be afraid of color!  Bright, vibrant colors look great!  Think about choosing a dressier outfit, a casual outfit and maybe a fun look that will show off their personality.  :)   Here are few clothing options/ideas that you should consider when choosing clothing for Seniors:

1.  Layers (Adds dimension  and interest plus, in CO can sometimes help keep them warm.  Also, removing or adding a layer off can give whole new look and feel to a portrait.)

2.  Accessories (hair clips, scarves, hats, jewelry, cute shoes, etc)  These always look great and can bring out their personalities as well!

3.  Texture!  (cordoroy, sweaters, jackets, leggings, ruffles)  Texture is great for adding some depth and interest to your portraits!

4.  NO logos or character prints!  (Logos can be distracting and can add hours to the editing process.)

5.  Avoid busy prints!

After the Session:

After the session, if they allow, all clients can choose to view a “Sneak Peek” on my blog a few days after their session.  Please allow up to 2 weeks for editing and final images to be posted in a password-protected online slideshow gallery.  All session slideshows have a link that can be sent to family and friends for online viewing as well.  Also, another cool feature, if you choose, you can post the slideshow link on Facebook.  Once posted, clients will have 2 weeks to view images before making their order.
